At the time, Walt Disney Studios president David Vogel immediately paid $2.25 million for the rights to The Sixth Sense. His superiors were angry because M. Night Shyamalan’s film was very expensive. Vogel’s boss expected him to give up some of his power. When Vogel refused, he was terminated. The movie went on to become a critical success.
